Winner of the Sana Elache Student Empowerment Award 2018
Krish is a Grade 10 technology enthusiast and environmental steward who is dedicated to implementing entrepreneurship and innovation in his community. He is a co-founder of an environmental organization known as EcoYOLO which has brought over 600 students to plant over 4000 saplings around his community. Krish is also on the board of directors for YouthComputing, an organization that promotes STEM throughout its community and has partaken in the creation of community-wide events such as Launch Wood Buffalo and Community Code Day. He developed HALO, a smartwatch application that is able to detect and act upon sudden/subtle heart irregularities--a project that won a silver medal at the Canadian national science fair. Krish's hobbies include table tennis, chess, coding, Rubik's cube solving, and graphical design. Moreover, he has a passion for public speaking and has had the opportunity to be a keynote speaker in Wood Buffalo Youth Day and in Fort McMurray's Emerald Day; he even had the chance to speak at WE Day in front of 16000 youth! Through Krish’s constant acts of volunteerism, he was awarded the Governor General Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteering, the most prestigious volunteering award in Canada. He is honoured and humbled to be selected for this year's Sana Elache Student Empowerment Award and takes this as encouragement to continue to give back to his community.
